Anatomy of a Drop Pod

This is turning into a labour of love.  I'm almost sorry I started, but the finished results will hopefully be worth it.  I wanted to model the inside of a Tyrannocyte complete with sleeping Carnifex.  This was to be my homage to Da Vinci's 'In Utero'.  My plucky defiance of the naysayers who hate the model, reckon its too fiddly to build and call it 'the floating pineapple'.

I may have bitten off more than I can chew.  Of course, it has to be a working model which I can use in games as well as a gravid Tyranid pod inspired by the Renaissance artist's drawings.  It quickly became clear that I wasn't going to get the carapace arms to open and close on this one.  There just isn't enough room in the damn thing.  The 'arms' are all going to be glued in place and it will be a tight fit.  Hopefully, the way they are supposed to open and close is fairly clear to the observer but I've had to literally cut corners in order to squeeze all the contents in.  

I'm trying out Privateer Press's Brown/Alumininum putty as well as Green Stuff and Grey Stuff.  Its pretty good and you can shape very fine detail, but its not as easy to work with as the other two. i.e. its very, very sticky when mixed in equal parts.

This pod has only got 12 magnets in it so far but there will be more.  Oh yes, by God this is going to be my 'magnet opus' I tell you!  It just about closes with the Carnifex inside but I haven't finished fleshing out the bottom yet so I'm going to have to be very careful with the next stage.
