Sidetracked

I should just go all out and play Chaos really.  Several people have mentioned it. I wouldn't have to kitbash horns on my dudes; they come ready made.  But where's the fun in that?  And what Chaos army has a Mindflayer Enginseer? Huh? Huh!? (Ok there's probably one on Forgeworld somewhere).

R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!

I'm a wizard!

Last of the Mohicans

Right! Time to stop dicking around and get back to assembling/painting Skitarii!

Oh dear God no, not Kill Team!

  1. Nice! Getting sidetracked by conversions is not getting sidetracked at all! The face-tentacles really look good.

    1. Cheers Xar, I had to roll really tiny tentacles for this one which was a good challenge.

  2. You DO play chaos, just admech chaos/Hereteks/Dark Mechanicus. Besides, even if you just bought . bunch of CSMs, I can't see you running 'em as stock minis anyways, its not in your nature.

    1. I like to think they're being innovative rather than heretical. But innovation is a form of heresy in the 41st millenium. So yeah. Chaos!

  3. They look good and i do like that wizards helmet. I have only been suggesting chaos as your chaos looks so chaos. You do you however and these skitarii look great. Can wait to see them in teal. As for skirmish games I feel necromundas a bit better than kill team.

    1. yes, thats the problem! I think I would like the narrative focus of Necromunda a bit too much really and then become... sidetracked! I would like to give it a go at some point but WILL finish this army first! Oh and I already know that my first gang will be Van Saar.

  6. The Omnissiah approves of your divergence....or the Omnissiah that talks to me on a regular basis does ;-)
I'm a big fan of the Ad-Mech models. I think it's the body horror, which is often overlooked for the more showy aesthetics of other factions, that speaks to me.
Being principally a servant of the Dark Prince (it's all about the flesh baby!) I find the idea of them wonderfully horrific, so it seems only natural to take them in a a more darker direction that subtly highlights their body manipulation....and these achieve that wonderfully, great work!

    1. "From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me...". Thanks, I don't really like the 1950's retro sci-fi side of AdMech and prefer claws and mechadendrites. Some of the new AdMech designs revealed at LVO might prove a bit unpopular but I'm quite excited about them!

    2. Yeah, I'm not so keen on the "Danger! Danger! Will Robinson" Robots but that's the only unit that I don't like.
I've stepped away from the grand theatre of war that is 8th edition* and have submerged myself in the shadow war of survival under the yoke of the Imperium (Necromunda) but the new Ad-Mech models will be making an appearance in the surrounding Ash Wastes as soon as I get my grubby little mitts on them....some models are just too good not to use ;-)

*I didn't like the game originally and even though my gaming buddies tell me that it has improved massively over the last 18 months, There are simply too many books required to get back into it now. Maybe the rumoured 9th will change my mind.

    3. Looking forward to seeing those on your blog! I have a weird attitude to 8th. I often find thinking about playing a game more enjoyable than actually playing. I would probably enjoy the narrative focus of Necromunda but have so many GW games rotting away on a shelf (Space Hulk, Kill Team, Shadespire, Nightvault, Deathwatch Overkill, Blackstone Fortress, Silver Tower) that I'm reluctant to try another. My kids only wargame online and prefer board games like Settlers and Smallworld so I play more of those. We're currently having a resurgence of Totopoly if you can believe that!
